If I Didn’t Have You

If I didn’t have you

I wouldn’t have me

what a journey it has been

(what a journey it will be)

unfolding all Life’s deepest mysteries

I see them stroll on down the street

headphones on, obliviously

missing all the subtleties

there are those who can’t recall

a single dream, not one at all

and then there is me and there is you

we’ve burned in hell and soared in blue

wrestled demons and held God’s hands

we’ve Seen Things the others can’t

deeper layers, lifted veils

I do my yoga, you hike your trails

what we share can’t be explained

what was lost, now reclaimed

an indestructible house exists

one where all the Whole Souls live

I revel in my gratitude

I revel because I’m free

Thank you will never be enough

If I didn’t have you

I wouldn’t have

Me.

Draft Pick

Yesterday, an anxious fit threw me

silk sheets wrapped their burgundy curls around my limbs

pinning me down in my own twisted, sweaty haste

to get away

What a sad-funny thing to think we can run from ourselves

How many times do you wage war on the inside?

Some lose days

Some lose years

I’ve lost both before but in my bones I know

the worthiest of battles

are on this battlefield of Soul

So when I lose

I wake again and start anew

Today, I threw an anxious fit away

each step I took with wisened foot

Lessons learned

I feel my worth

Wars are won on how we greet our losses

If we were picking teams

Would you choose yourself?

‘Cause I’d sure as hell choose

me

It’s Okay

twinfl

There’s something you’re waiting for

And it’s okay

You’re allowed

Just to date

To explore

Beat back that invasive shame

Stop sitting down with your self

Just to play The Guilt Games

You and I both know

There is something you’re waiting for

And I swear,

It’s gotta be okay

We gotta make that okay

You were not made

To settle

Or stay for the sake of staying

So you can say

But he’s so nice

Or

She’s a good girl

I can’t hurt her feelings

Can’t make him feel pain

Oh baby, you’re not that arrogant

Are you?

Or that afraid?

Don’t put it on him or her

All that silly blame

Take it back

Own your fate

You were meant to choose something great

Put your heart in charge

Shut the naysayers away

Lock that door

You and I both Know

There’s someone you’re waiting for

Where She Lives

anima

He dug his hands down into the Soul of things

And came up empty

Awakened, brutally, to the Other Side

Disillusioned, now

Afraid

Bitter like the dry dirt caked up his arms

From the constant digging

She calls to him, Look up, over there!

But he no longer trusts a female voice,

Even one that is not hers

If only he could get out of his own way

She is pointing him to rich soil

A well –

Wet and deep and thriving with Life Force that can sustain him

If only he can bear to try again

(Though he is so sick of trying)

To reach once more

To find what he was always meant to have —

His land.

His land.

Where She lives…

Underneath

affair

You slipped beneath my skin today

Tried to reach into my soul

Your eyes fell, easy, into mine

And you began to know

She’s not gonna do it, hey?

Ain’t up to the task

The only thing you see in me

Is Everything she lacks

We sat face-to-face, today

Facades partially in place

But I wondered — just like you, I think —

If they could be erased

What if we decided

To take all these layers off

What if I undressed your soul

Instead, this pleasant talk

Yet here we are again, my friend

Amidst unspoken Want

Sitting heavy in-between us here

Adult masks on top

You’ve settled in my head my dear

As I type these words you read

I wonder….are you brave enough

To choose what’s Underneath?

You and I

Alchemyunionofsun&moon

We’re not so different

You and I…

All these goals and dreams

We’re not so different

You and I

Some days our Sirens scream

The struggling, the striving

The overactive mind

The ADD

The BPD

Depression and the like

Begrudgingly we take a pill

Or emphatically refuse

Some days our hearts eat up the hate

But other days

They lose

We’re not so different

You and I

This fabric of our fears

Woven with a matching cloth

With wounded matching tears

We all insist so fervently

What’s wrong with This or That

Throwing stones at those who wear

Our own ever-changing hats

I, for one, I must admit

I am a humble hypocrite

But hope one day to try that hat

Say, it no longer fits

You cannot make me like you

Nor I make you like me

But God knows we try like children do

Force incessantly

Wonder who first had the thought

We all must be The Same

Wonder why we’re still playing

That stale, soul-crushing game

Inevitably the boomerang returns herself to Truth

And then our Pointing Fingers

Only make us Fools

Hero meets the Villain now

They make a brotherhood

The mirror sheds a brand new light

The way a mirror should

So let me gaze into your eyes

You’ll gaze into mine

Not so different after all

So different

You and I

Fly

Break the hex and run girl

Fly out into darkest night

With your feathered black wings

Shining black-blue in moonlight

Lift yourself out of this quicksand tar

Cut it off you

With anything you can grab

Gnaw it off you

If you have to

You do

Anything it takes

To break free

To leave this world behind and fly, fly

Fly…

Beautiful

Who seeks the soul of a beautiful girl
Does the beautiful boy even have a soul
Or, do they lose it to the Beautiful
With Its strict, perfectionistic demands
That She should not age
Nor have flesh at the thighs for lovers to grip
Nor thin lips
Nor large hips
That He — can’t possibly be kind or warm
Because he’s Expected, practically directed
With that straight nose and carved jaw to simply stand there
With that strangely prized apathetic look of The Modeling World
Beautiful men reduced to the thing in their J Brand jeans
Beautiful women reduced to caricatures in magazines
Blank slates for other women to draw inaccurate conclusions about
Oh, the perks of Beauty –
Mistrust, betrayal, jealousy
Competition, oh yes dear, and
Fear
For the Beautiful person can only hold on for so long
Until they close up, shrivel
From a lack of Being Seen
Beautiful — Put On them at birth
Or created from low self-worth
Like that monogramed bag everyone has
Cuz it tells us what we’re worth
So when He and She turn hardened
We say “The Beautiful are mean”
But Beauty’s just a little fire…
Who holds the gasoline?

WHO YOU ARE

I am an Artist

I am a Poet

I am a Powerful Force

I have loved you

Since forever

I have abandoned you

Never

I live within you

Goddess and God

Masculine and Feminine

Merged into One Beautiful Whole

But do you see it? Do you know?

Nothing can harm you when you are connected to Me

From deepest pain to highest bliss

To the Calm in between

I am the Creative Divine

Let yourself live and you will find

That I, too, am Alive

You – yes YOU – came to be

Out of the Great Universal Me

Who begs Expression through the uniqueness of you

Letting My Hands move as yours do

Never underestimate the power of The Nameless

I have given it a name, in so many forms

When you wonder what my name is, Child…

It’s yours.
